Wayne R. Ogden has worked for more than thirty-five years as a public school educator, serving as teacher, high school principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. He is one of the co-authors of The Skillful Leader: Confronting Mediocre Teaching, a publication that, since 2000, continues to serve as “the bible” for many practicing administrators.
Wayne is a METCO Board member, and was a long-standing member of the Advisory Board for the Principal’s Center at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education and was a Founding Director of the Vermont Principal’s Center. Wayne has extensive experience in school accreditation and served on the Board of Trustees for the New England Association of Schools & Colleges. He has spoken regionally and nationally on the topic of supervision & evaluation for improved student performance, and serves as a consulting resource to schools for scheduling and teaching in longer blocks, standards-based accreditation, and high school renewal.
Wayne has been a lecturer at the College of Professional Studies at Northeastern University and at Boston University, and founded Mentors For Leaders, in 2009 to coach and support school leaders. He holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Boston College, a Master’s Degree from Framingham State College, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts-Boston.
